Odd encounters with AI native in the wild

AI-native is not a virtue. It is a dependency condition.

Do not praise it. Do not mourn it. Diagnose it.

A person who cannot write, decide, remember, apologise, negotiate, or notice without AI is not advanced. He is adapted to an artificial climate.

This is normal. We are all climate-dependent now. Take away electricity, air-con, payments, logistics, medicine, and most of us are finished. So there is no sneer here.

The point is that AI enters the organs of personhood.

It does not just carry goods. It carries judgment. So the cultural question is not “will people use AI?” Of course they will. Only fools won’t.

The question is: who still has command?

Can you shut the agent up? Can you read the raw file? Can you remember the confidence? Can you speak without polish? Can you apologise without synthetic tenderness? Can you decide when the dashboard is silent? Can you keep the machine out of the room?

That is the new class marker.

Not access—everyone will have that. Command over dependency.

A badly behaved agent is not a technical failure. It is a household failure. Same as a rude driver, a leaking secretary, a thuggish lawyer, a stupid aide. The principal carries the stain.

So yes: Your agents are your manners.

But the deeper line is: AI gives everyone servants. Most people have never learned how to run a house. And nobody is teaching them.
